Along with his fiction, his essay collection For a New Novel and his screenplay for Alain Resnais’s Last Year at Marienbad have influenced countless artists across the world.

RICHARD HOWARD is an American poet, critic, and translator. After studying at the Sorbonne, he soon turned his attention to poetry and criticism, and won the Pulitzer Prize for his 1969 collection Untitled Subjects. He lives in New York City.
